Newport News Catalog stole my money

This company has stolen so much money from so many people it is obscene. I ordered from them in February of 2012. They sent me a portion of my order and not the other half. However, they debited my account for ALL of the money. I called them to let them know I did not get the entire order. The less than enthusiastic customer service represntative told me that they did not have the rest of the merchandise and I would get a refund. I did not. A month later, I wrote to them and also filed a complaint with the BBB. They promised I would get my money within 2 weeks. I did not. I wrote to them again. I was given another promise. I still did not get my money. In the meantime, I checked other review sites and found that I was not the only person whose money was stolen by Newport News. It is now May 2012 and I still have not gotten my money back. They have also ignored the BBB. I am now going to take this to small claims court. I work very hard for my money and I refuse to allow any company to steal it from me. If other victims are reading this, please post. I am trying to mobilize all the people who are owed money by this company to take action. I will not be a victim.

Update 6/2/2012....I started the process to go to Judge Judy's court and informed Newport News.(I felt more people would know of their stealing if I used this avenue.) In no time at all, I received a check in the mail (5/24)from them. Took more than 3 months to get my refund.

I will NEVER buy anything from these people again.

Did I say NEVER? In case I didn't, I will NEVER EVER buy anything from Newport News again.

Newport News Artemiss Awards are NOT being provided

I have 2 merchandise credits and a gift card from the now bankrupt Newport-News. I have filled out the Artemis Appreciation Awards forms for customers who had received these prior to June 6, 2011 no less than 4 times and have received NO response. I tried to go to the bankruptcy URL that was provided while the proceedings were going on and it is no longer valid. www.dm.epiq11.com/ssl. I am going to try and call the toll free number for the bankruptcy processor on Monday and see if I have any luck there (1-86*-431-****). I don't know how they are being allowed to get away without honoring the previous debt for gift cards and merchandise credits which very clearly on their web site indicate I should be eligible based on the terms and conditions below. The Artemiss Appreciation Awards are being awarded to certain qualifying persons pursuant to an agreement under which the Newport News brand and related business was recently acquired. The Artemiss Appreciation Awards are awarded for no consideration from those qualifying persons. Persons may qualify for the Artemiss Appreciation Awards Program based solely on certain aspects of their status as returning customers who had unredeemed Newport News credits for merchandise returned before June 6, 2011 or their status as holders of unredeemed or partially redeemed Newport News gift cards issued by the prior owner before June 6, 2011. Buyer Beware!

I would NOT recommend ordering from here. They sent to the wrong size and refuse to send me the correct size without me PAYING THEM for shipping! They even admitted that it was their own glitch. However they said it was "not their policy" to send the correct size. I've never seen such POOR customer service, and I order online often. Can you believe it!! Now we know how they make money!! In addition, shipping took much longer than the average online store. I don't plan to shop here or at their sister company, Speigel, in the future.

This also happened to me. Newport News sent an entirely wrong style of an item.

They charged me shipping to send it back to them!

And they even conceded it was their mistake! Will never trust them again, plus they took my money!

I have been skirted around at Newport-News about my credit balance

I have filed a complaint with the FTC today. I didn't realize there would be this many posts from people. I too am a victim of Newport News not being held accountable for my credit from 2009. I didn't know about the filing of bankruptcy until last year and they continue to take orders. I want my money back! I have called several times and each time there's a language or skill barrier with the Customer Service Rep I have spoken to 1 supervisor. But I am unable to get a hold of a supervisor directly. I am still waiting for that call back. How is this happening??? What steps can we take on this??????

Newport News Suckered Me

I received an email from NEWPORT NEWS, the online fashion catalogue, stating that all things in their outlet would be on sale for $5 for three hours (big emphasis on EVERYTHING). I wasn't going to buy anything until I saw the Boyfriend's Leather Jacket for sale at $5, down from $200. I purchased it along with a couple of other buys. Well, if it seems too good to be true, it is. I waited and waited. I received the two other items I purchased, but not the blazer. I went back to the order and saw that my money had been 'refunded' without an explanation of why the money had been refunded or any notification. In other words, I had been suckered into buying other things by this 'great deal.' I'm not going back to them...

Sent wrong item

I placed an order for a cute jeweled print blouse on February 19th, 2012. I had been looking at this blouse for a few months and was happy to see that it was on sale for $19.00. Well, when ordering with Victoria's Secret or Overstock.com, they send an email showing the order placed and tracking information so when I did not receive an email from NPN I called mid week and was advised my order "just put together yesterday and will ship in a few days". So vague but I just went with it and hoped for the best. I received my order on February 25, 2012, and when I opened the package I found a strapless gray lace dress size M. Now how did I not expect this? I have no use for this dress and could not understand how the employee could select the wrong item when it clearly is noted on the invoice...just 1 item to pull, bag and ship. I double checked my invoice and sure enough it shows that I ordered a blouse with jewel print...of course I called customer service and the rep advised me to send the package back (at my expense) and I will be issued a full refund. After reading the reviews about NPN poor customer service and delays in issuing refunds, I don't think I will send the order back, I may just donate the dress to a Goodwill or a women's shelter. I just want to be done with NPN and of course I will NEVER EVER order from them again...but I will tell all my friends and coworkers about this bad experience.

Unable to assess the Website

I have been subscribing Newport News email promotion for years. Recently, I was no longer able to retrieve the link even I still receive regular their email. I noted that there is a change in the promotional email which was through a email company. The worst thing was that I am unable to find any customer link to inform the company. All the link to the Newport News was shown not found 404. In fact, I have not done anything to my computer, iPhone and etc. Did any one has come across the situation? What can I do with this? The company have not even left a email contact!

Just spoke with Customer Service at Newport News and they said the company changed ownership last June and now their website can only be accessed if you are in the USA - which I am not. This is ridiculous and the company is obviously losing business. Not the way to do business in this day and age.

I have the same problem. I've ordered from Newport News for a while and a few months ago the 404 Not Found msg came up.

I've tried every which way to get the website but have had no luck. It's very frustrating but glad to see I'm not the only one!

Newport News has the worst customer service ever!

I made an online purchase from Newport News on Dec 6th, 2011. When I did not get any kind of shipping notice after a week I checked my order status on the website. It said the order was still "processing" so I contacted them via the customer service link on their site. I never got a response, so I called. I was told that they had moved their warehouse and all orders were delayed. No one could tell me when my order would ship, but I was told that they would send it expedited shipping when it did ship. I waited a couple of weeks more, checked the order status via the site (still "processing") and wrote customer service again. Never got a response. Called, and was told the same thing about the warehouse moving, etc etc. Here it is mid Jan, and I go and check the website and it actually says my order shipped! Hurray! So I wait a 2 more weeks, and nothing. I go to the site, and there is a link in my order status to "Track Shipping"- but there is no tracking number...nor is there even a shipping date! I write customer service again (at this point just for s&!ts and grins, knowing I won't get a response, which I didn't) and then call. The person I got on the phone this time stumbles through a bunch of questions then informs me I am being issued a refund. When I ask why- he can't tell me. When I ask to talk to his supervisor, he told me to call back. Which I did, hoping to get someone who wouldn't OBVIOUSLY be making things up as he goes along. This time I was told that I was being issued a refund because my "shipment was lost". I was told I will receive my refund in 7-10 working days. Riiiight. I'm not holding my breath. I will NEVER order from this company again. Never received ANY responses to my inquiries to customer service, was given the run around whenever I spoke with someone on the phone, and after 2 months of waiting and being told numerous stories, I am not even receiving what I purchased. How this company is still in business is beyond my comprehension.

Ordered beg of Dec, never shipped until Jan 20. I had ordered 2 items - only received the leggings and not the sweater.

I got charged $78 which was for both. I am still battling them on it and NO, they do not answer emails

I am wondering if they are going out of business like Chadwicks.....

I sent back a box via UPS on 9/26/11 with 2 coats inside it, I wanted to exchange the coats for a larger size, I never ever got my merchandise, nor did I ever get any help as to the where abouts of my package, it is now 3/24/12 and I still have no credit to my credit card nor do I have any coats, I have emailed them over and over, I have mailed them certified mail over and over and nothing, it is like no is on the other end. newport news has the worst customer service and return dept that I have ever dealt with.

NewPort News Fashion is a rip off

I purchased two very low rated blouses in June, returned them the same day. Was told that Signature styles were taking bankruptcy. They would refund my money in late July. They will not even talk to me on this subject, nor will they comply about doing anything about crediting my credit card back. I will never buy from them again, and recommend that no one purchases anything from them, they are a fraudulent company. I am a Senior Citizen, and am treated very badly by this company, I strongly recommend that no one in this country or any other country do business with these people, nor Spiegel nor Shapefx, they are all in the same companies.

I have been a customer of Newport News since 2002 and have never had an issue with merchandise, customer service, or billing. I haven't purchased anything from Newport News since 2008, because I noticed the quality of the merchandise and overall selection was lacking.

Many of my favorite items were discontinued and the "new items" were being recycled yearly.

I've just read the company if bankrupt, no wonder why folks are having issues with their orders. I have a charge account with them that is still active, although I have not charged anything in 4 years, I will be closing this account immediately, if there is even someone I can talk to in customer service.

I decided to quit paying on my credit card payments. I bought a shrug from them, and had only worn it 2x's.

The stitching came out, and I couldn't wear it, so I called and asked if I could return it, and have another one sent. They said it had been too long, but the item was still very much available. It had only been a few months. Also, many of the items I ordered were either no longer available, even after I was told I would receive the item, then I was charged for the wrong shirt sent to me.

Many items I received from the company looked cheap, compared to the pictures in the magazine, and buttons were falling off, even after one wash, the colors faded.SO I refuse to pay anymore on my card after even trying to pay it off. I have bought better stuff from forever 21 or 1odollarmall.com

:( I too am a victim of Signature Styles ( Newport News') appalling conduct towards customers in bankruptcy. The merchandise credit I held for returned items was deemed a "gift card" and then expired early without notice to me.

I had filed a claim in bankruptcy and this was done thru the acquisition of the company. $117.00 is not a lot but I hate-hate-hate being ripped off.

If you had a similar experience- tell everyone- that's my plan. :upset Janet

My name is Barbara Jansen, I've been a customer of Spiegel and Newport News for many, many years. I'm am appalled and discussed with how your company handled my latest purchase. You stole from me and many other people. I made a purchase on October 17th. Two skirts both size 12. I received them yesterday and they were a size 6. Was I surprise when I read on the receipt that you where not making any exchanges!!!!! It took me over 30 minutes on hold trying to get someone to help me with the return. When I did the woman I spoke to told me there was nothing she could do but I should re-order the skirts in the correct size (AGAIN) and when they receive my return they will credit my account.

I'm not happy with that so I make another call this morning and again I am on hold for a long time. This time I'm told that Spiegel and Newport news are being taken over by an independent company so they are not able to help me.

I know now that you're company filed bankruptcy back in July. HOW CAN YOU BE TAKING ORDERS FOR THINGS YOU DON['T HAVE?????? Or excuse me, I forgot that you are just sending out the wrong sizes....probably to get rid of merchandise. I found a website with people who have similar complaints. Why are you still allowed to be selling online? I am calling the lawyer who took your case 646-282-**** and am also filing a claim. I don't care if you're bankrupt, I will put a new class action suit against your company for any dealing you have that were made after the bankruptcy was filed.

I will also contact my visa card that was used for this purchase.

Whats going on with Newport News? I have been trying to check the status of a new order placed and also the stauts of a returned order.

I waited until the battery went dead o my phone. I tried calling 2 different numbers 800-759-**** and 800-688-****. When I try to check online my account says I have no orders and I'm unable to download the form. My credit card has been charged for the new order.

Does anyone know of another way to contact Newport News?? I will be calling the BBB 1st thing on Monday Morning.

Agree-- there is something drasticly wrong with this company. Unable to contact them by either listed phone number (wasted over 1 1/2 hrs total ).

Tried to contact them on-line but unable to download form #.

I have an order # but my account says I have no orders. Never again will I deal with this company.

Refund that I cannot get since 04-01-2011

Newport news always tell you that it is going to be handled, and never is. I was *** enough to beleive them and order again 01-06-2012, did not work sent back on 01-11-2012 AS THEY INSTRUCTED ME ON THE PHONE CUSTOMER SERVICE, MAYA,, track and they received on 01-18-2012, Same old, Same old, Now they will not refund my money from Artemiss, and I was assured when I ordered , if the product did not work that I would get my money back THIS IS A BOGUS COMPANY ,,CONSUMERS BEWARE OF SPEIGAL, SHAPE FX, AND NEWPORT NEWS AS THEY TAKE YOUR MONEY AND IF YOU SEND BACK THEY will not refund you... this has happened to me twice. no more... I am going to have channel 4 and 11 inivestigate these companys and am filing a complaint with BBB. every one out there that has been cheated by this so called Artemiss company, Let us all pull together to close them down..

I sent complaint to BBB and the fed trade commission, Newport News put 4.00 in my bank account 3 weeks ago and 11.94 twoo weeks aago, and 5.95. one week ago, I would say that Artimiss, the company that bought these companies has a cash flow problem. I call every week and will continue to do so until they refund all my mony..

Gift Card Section filed Bankruptcy

Newport News gift card contracted company, filed bankruptcy. They are still in a court situation but Newport News offered resolution to gift card holders; trouble is, they won't give you the full amount balance of the gift card. They emailed me a portion but not all. After many calls, spending a good deal of phone time I finally told them to just keep my $70. I told them I was going to tell all my friends about this experience and get on line to alert consumers not to purchase anything from them especially gift cards. You have been warned.

I guess I am not alone

Just like everyone else, I am a victim of Newport News not sending all my clothing and then not refunding my money on my return. They assured me they would look into the situation and get back to me but didn't, then they said my information was "lost" and now their system is down and can't look anything up! What can we do??? I really wish I had read this BEFORE I made my orders... Has anyone actually received a refund from their complaint and what did you have to do to get it? Please advise as I am NOT HAPPY!

I placed an order of $219.44 and have yet to hear from Newport News. I have sent emails to any email addresses that I can find and they all come back undeliverable.

My credit card has not been charged yet, I had really wanted the clothes for an upcoming trip, however after reading these reviews I am going to call my credit card company and see if I can stop payment. Thank you.

I too myself wish that I would have read the comments before ordering from newport news.. They suck!

I ordered some jeans from them a size 12 and they sent me a size 6 and two corsets that I finally decided to return. I returned my order three weeks ago and they cannot find my order. Because it is under a new owner? What does that have to do with me..

On Jan 3 I ordered 2 things oonline (a slip and a aqua swimsuite that was onsale for $10). The slip arrived on Jan.

13. I called to inquire about the swimsuite lastnight. I waited on hold for 20min.before a rep answered. Then costumer service rep was very rude and acted as if he couldn't understand English.

When he finally looked up my order he said that they no longer had the swimsuite and they were gonna send me a refund. I asked him why I wasn't notified. He replied they don't send emails or make phonecalls for that stuff. He told me they wait until the costumer phones in.

WHAT???? How Unprofessional is that??? I see why they are going bankrupt!! I went online during this phone call and the site was going to let me reorder the same swimsuite w/o letting me know it was out-of-stock.

Hhmmmm??? I asked to speak w/ a supervisor and was told they weren't available. I left my number for the Supervisor to contact me. Got no response.

I tried to call back this morning and was told once again a supervisor wasn't available. I left my info again. To this day, my payment for the swimsuite has not been refunded.

I realize its only around $10, but its the principle. Shame on Them (smh)

Newport news not delivering

I ordered merch 11/27. Now 12/12 they say because they have switched warehouses they will ship merch out on the 20th. I ordered merch as xmas gifts said it would be here in 12 days. They refuse to cancel order, credit card is charged. Said i can return once it gets here(i will have to pay s&h) what a bunch of cr@p. If they confirm my order and take my $ they should send my stuff. I have been a customer for 9 yrs.....no longer. There are plenty of other places to spend my money

My complaint is exactly the same as the ones above. Ordered a dress on 11/25/11 and as of 12/27/11 have not received it.

I have called customer service numerous times only to be told that my order is in the warehouse waiting to be shipped and that the warehouse has been transferred to North Carolina. Customer service advised they have no way of speaking with someone in the warehouse or cannot transfer a customer's call to the warehouse. However, if you call and place an order today, customer service will assure you that you will receive the order within a few days. Newport News has lost a very loyal customer.

Hi all I'm sorry for everyones grief I'm in the same boat and feel conned ordered on 11/30 they charged me on 12/21 its cleared no shipping confirm, nothing you take my money but don't tell me where my merch is? I'm going to report to bbb I don't want to be out this money.

All emails are undelierable. Their website is a fraud. if your customer service emails does not function you are practicing illegal business.

Please go to the bbb website and report this business please we can all complain but we must take action. Happy holidays let's hope they will make I right for us all.

I ordered a single item for my wife's Christmas gift way back on 11/28 (plenty of time for the item to be delivered...or so I thought!) For the last 2 weeks, I have been stonewalled at every turn in trying to get this item shipped. My email sent to their "customer service" was returned as undeliverable.

My post on their "comments" page on the web site went unanswered and so far, I have been told by 3 separate "customer service reps" that my item has been sitting in shipping for over a week. Of course, no one there has the ability to change the shipping address now (I was to have the item sent to a co-workers house so my wife wouldn't find it sitting on the front porch) because the item has been marked as "invoiced and processed". Basically, they are holding my wife's gift hostage. All because the company decided that it would be a great business decision to move their warehouse right before the busiest shopping period of the year.

I think that reason is a crock of you know what! They luckily have not billed my credit card as of yet, but I will keeping a close watch online to make sure they do not try to sneak in addition "overnight" shipping charges. I have pretty much given up receiving this item by Christmas. Thanks Newport News; you bunch of unprofessional "grinches"!

Don't waste you time or money with them. You have too many choices to have to tolerate such inept business practices!!

I ordered from NewPort News on 11/30/2011. I still have not recieved my dress and i have been told several times that it would be shipped out and i still haven't recieved my order.

My order just says processing. When you call customer service they just give excuses and act like it is a joke. None of them seem to care and they are quick to say this is a common problem. What company would be comfortable enough to let their reps and "supervisors" say that to customers.

I am very disappointed and feel as i have beem scammed. I will never purchase from this company again.

Same thing here I ordered on 11-23-2011 Now i have been told the same story and that my order will ship on 12/19 Don't order from these people!!!! Don't let the hundreds of to good to be true offers in your e-mail talk you into it.

They can send tons of junk e-mail but refuse to respond to customer service e-mails.

Also promise a superviser call back but no one will actually call back!!!! What a waste of time, so much for my sisters x-mas gifts!

The same thing happened to me. I placed an online order on 11-28-11.

I have called them several times and was told each time the same story as Sr3love.

I will place a dispute with my credit card company if I am billed for my order and it has not been received. I will not order from them again.

Newport News Buyer Beware

I placed an order in the beginning of December 2011. Waited........waited..... Called. Was told to give it another week as they moved the warehouse. Waited..........then checked status online. Still "processing". Called again. Was told there was nothing she could do as far as cancelling the order while it is in processing. Waited........Checked the 23rd of January. Yep.....compute says still processing. Called again. Now she says everything I ordered is OUT OF STOCK!!! Really??? Also, not on any of mt calls did I hear "I'm sorry for ant inconvenience". They all sounded like they hated their job and could care less. Never Again!!!
